Mia and Hakim plan and hope for their liberal mother, Milah, to change for the better and perform her Haj. Things start to look up for Adira when fate brings her and Hakim together, relinquishing her belief in a happy ending, despite her demanding supervisor, Reduan, who keeps picking on her.

opening.sequence
I love the way the opening credits introduced Izyan’s character which is a blind who has accepted her fate and moved on with her life.
the.breakup
What I loved about this scene is how the emotions drastically change from happy to devastated, but naturally. This pairing of Izyan Mellyna and Aiman Hakim Ridza was one of the main success of this telemovie.
say.nothing
A scene with no words... elevated by the haunting soundtrack by Ryan Sufiyan was just... I have no words. Of course, when we did the scene, there was no sound, everyone on set was silent, mesmerized by the moment... and tears start to flow. In one take. Thank you, Aiman, Izyan, Mariana Yati, and Yuslina Yussof for this awesome moment.
the.end
This was Izyan’s moment. Alone, in a public space, watching a goodbye video left by her dead ex-boyfriend. Even the crew were left speechless.
I feel that I have grown as a writer and director when I did ‘Mekah Di Hati’. It was a challenge. We were juggling 2 productions at the same time and both were of different genres. I had only a few days to write the script and we did not really have any script reading done. But with such a great lineup of cast and amazing team and crew, I had complete faith that they will deliver, and Alhamdulillah, everyone surely did!
